Boca Catalina Beach Aruba

Snorkeling at Boca Catalina Beach Aruba

Boca Catalina is consistently ranked among the very best snorkeling spots in Aruba, and it earns that reputation every time. The beach offers pristine, calm, shallow waters with coral reefs home to an amazing variety of fish, and the possibility of seeing green sea turtles in the deeper seagrass areas.

Best Time to Visit Boca Catalina Beach

The best time to visit is in the morning when the wind and current are not as strong. This is especially true for snorkeling mid day sees lots of tour boats dropping groups in the water, so arriving early (ideally by 7–7:30am) gives you calmer water, fewer crowds, and much better chances of spotting turtles and more elusive marine species.

Things to Do Near Boca Catalina Beach

Boca Catalina sits in one of the most scenic corners of Aruba, making it a natural anchor for a full day in the north. When in the area, you may also want to snorkel Malmok Beach, Tres Trapi, and Arashi Beach, all of which are located just a few hundred yards away. Snorkeling Report
A short drive further north brings you to the California Lighthouse, one of Aruba’s most photographed landmarks, with sweeping views across the island’s northern tip. You can also spot the sunken German shipwreck, the Antilla, sticking out of the water from Boca Catalina though swimming out to it from shore is too far and not recommended. Book a dedicated Antilla wreck dive or snorkel tour if you want to explore it up close. The high rise resort area, only 5–10 minutes away, has plenty of restaurants, fast food, and shops if you want to grab lunch before or after your beach visit.
