Malmok Beach Aruba

What Makes Malmok Beach Aruba Worth Visiting

Malmok Beach is one of Aruba’s best kept secrets, and the fact that most tourists never find it is precisely what makes it worth seeking out. Located on the island’s northwest coast between Hadicurari (Fisherman’s Huts) to the south and Tres Trapi to the north, Malmok is a narrow, reef-fringed stretch of limestone coastline with pockets of white sand, crystal-clear shallow water, and some of the richest shore snorkeling on the entire island.
There’s no hotel sitting directly on Malmok Beach, no beach bar drawing the resort crowds, and no vendors pushing rentals. What there is instead is genuinely exceptional water clarity, a thriving reef starting just 20–30 metres from shore, small artificial wrecks that have transformed into coral gardens, regular sea turtle sightings, and a newly built boardwalk that makes sunset strolls here among the most beautiful on the island. Locals, expats, and in-the-know visitors are regulars here. On a weekday morning, you can have long stretches of it almost entirely to yourself.

Directions to Malmok Beach Aruba

Malmok Beach sits on Aruba’s northwest coast, approximately 5 minutes north of the main Palm Beach hotel strip on L.G. Smith/J.E. Irausquin Boulevard. It’s a straightforward drive from virtually anywhere on the island and one of the easiest off-resort beaches to reach independently.

Parking at Malmok Beach

Parking at Malmok Beach is free across all options. There are several spots to choose from depending on where you want to set up:

A small parallel parking lot sits directly alongside the road next to the water
Additional free dirt spaces are available across the street
The large free dirt parking lot at neighbouring Tres Trapi Beach (just 50 yards north) is another option, and many visitors park there and walk between the two beaches

Parking is generally easy to find on weekday mornings, which is the best time to visit anyway. On weekends or when snorkel tour boats are operating nearby, it fills up faster. Arriving before 9am comfortably secures a spot in any of the lots.

Snorkeling at Malmok Beach Aruba

Malmok Beach is one of the finest shore snorkeling destinations on the island, and it punches well above its weight given how easy it is to access. The reef starts very close to shore — just 20–30 metres out — and the water clarity here is consistently exceptional. Even on days when other spots are a little murky, Malmok tends to hold its visibility.
How to enter the water
Malmok has two small coves set into the rocky ironshore coastline. You can choose either cove for your entry point — you can enter without water shoes, but keep your eyes open for any rocks sticking up through the sand and take it slowly. Once you’re in, swim north (to the right as you face the water) following the edge of the cliff. This direction takes you into little rocky inlets with deeper pockets and a dense concentration of marine life, including schools of fish that are accustomed to snorkelers.
